London Fashion Week SS14, Day 1

London Fashion Week is here! So I invite you to join me for my trip over the next five days. I am going to take you with me on my journey and will try to give you the Fashion Week experience exactly as it is.

First of all, we have not been lucky with the weather here and the forecast isn't looking promising. It's been drizzling all day today and silly me left home without an umbrella. Remember when Monika in Friends had 'humid hair' issue? Well, this is what I will have to deal with for the next five days. I guess, I'll have to manage!

So from today onwards, my days are starting at 7am. I have planned my outfits beforehand, so that mornings don't turn into a disaster. For day one I went for the casual cool look, pairing my denim dungarees with a smart tailored blazer.

My first stop today was an event in GAP's flagship store. There is nothing better than having a light breakfast in the company of amazing and creative people. I even got my illustration done by the talented Cassandre Montoriol (you can see the result on my Instagram/juliashutenko).

With not a single minute to spare I headed straight to the Fyodor Golan catwalk show. Here is a sneak peak of the front row.

Next followed the presentation by Kilian Kerner at the beautiful Waldorf Hilton hotel.

Quick time for lunch and an outfit shoot. All clothes credits are below.

I then had the pleasure to attend a Design by Shanghai show held in Royal Opera House. What a breathtaking venue and cool collections!

The last show for me today was Jean-Pierre Braganza. And I am off to rest my feet and prepare for the longest day out of five which is tomorrow.

Follow me on Instagram/juliashutenko to stay updated throughout the day and come back here at the end of each day.

When in Chelsea

How is everyone's week going? Mine has been extremely hectic preparing to the London Fashion Week that is kicking off tomorrow bringing the busiest five days along.

So here is a quick post to show you what I was wearing yesterday while running pre LFW errands. This was shot in Chelsea area on my way to Donna Ida store. You will see the results of my very chic and productive afternoon with Donna and her team very soon. As for this outfit, this comfy oversized top is my new best friend while the weather is changing and autumn is taking over.

PS. They say it's going to rain through the entire Fashion Week. I guess this will come in handy.

Fashion Week SS14 (so far)

Fashion Week is a whirlwind of trends and news. Starting in New York and finishing in Paris, we are waiting with anticipation for what each new show may bring. For a month, everyone turns into a fashion critic while scrolling through each designers' collection, trying to predict the next IT thing of the season.

Six days into the NYFW and I have already started imagining my next Spring/Summer wardrobe. It's shaping up to be sporty and colourful; feminine and pastel. Below are my favourite shows and looks so far.

Can you honestly not fall in love with the mini skirts from Alexander Wang? Or the sporty colourful chic of DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger collections? And, hello, my workwear inspiration from Jason Wu!

Fashion Week is just at its beginning and it's already too much coolness to handle.

Let me know your favourites x

In the Detail

Happy weekend everyone! This is just a quick post to share an outfit shot a couple of days ago. It was a type of the day when the weather couldn't decide what it was doing and one minute it was boiling hot while another got a bit chilly. That's why this silk bomber jacket came in handy as it's very light material was just a perfect cover on when the sun was hiding. I have also had an orange-friendly mood and it's well reflected in my accessories choice for the day. While working with colour it's very important not to over match. There is nothing worse than a clearly colour coordinated outfit (you don't need your hat, scarf, gloves, bag and shoes to be all green or purple and worn at the same time.)

Have a wonderful weekend guys x

White Balance

Every September I treat each warm day as the last one, as I'm still not ready to swap my summer clothes for warmer ones. Funnily enough, only once the official summer was over did I remember having these white jeans and felt like I owed them a day in the sun.

I have never been sure about white denim and how to make it work properly. I can't event put a finger on what exactly I view as a problem, so with time I've just grown to ignore it. That said, once I found these jeans in my closet I got inspired to see what I can do with them. And here is the outfit for your judgement. I balanced the white with neon and grey. I think white needs a pop of colour, but only coming from one place (either top, shoes or bag). Now something very controversial, I don't like mixing white and black. Black blazer here would be a big no-no.

So, here you go, white isn't easy, but if you use your imagination it can make you shine! x

It's Here!

September is here, so is the autumn and a new season! Looking back at the summer, there's so much to be thankful for, and at the same time, excited for what is yet to come. During just three months of summer, I've, most importantly, got engaged (!!!) on a beautiful beach in Cyprus, visited Sweden and Lithuania and started this blog which has opened so many new possibilities for me, and is consistently making my daily life just that much more interesting.

For the majority of my life, September meant going back to studies and even though I do sometimes feel nostalgic about those times, I have to (naughtily) admit that I don't miss them. After the years of school and Uni I can finally put my knowledge to practice and be who I have always dreamed of being. So this season I am looking forward to everything new and unpredictable that is yet to come and, of course, my birthday at the end of September.

I am greeting autumn with this rather serious outfit, that always makes me feel professional, but not boring at all. A few special words needs to be said about this gorgeous L.K.Bennett bag. This collection has been designed in collaboration with actress Rosamund Pike, she brought some very chic and personal details to the designs. One of them is the little pink neon stripe in the corner of the bag (see below) and the other is the safety pin on one of the zips. That safety pin is a very personal touch, as Rosamund says she never leaves her house without an identical safety pin shaped earring.
So there it is, meet my new favourite bag for the season.

I hope September will treat everyone well xx
